The History of the Project Pro-Parish
Saint Joseph
At the beginning of 2004, the members of the parish of St. Joseph in
Ocotepeque, Honduras, under the direction of their pastor, Fray Mónico Gómez Aguilera
OFM Cap., noted with preoccupation the deterioration of the roof on the north side of the
parish Church.
After a detailed inspection of all of the roof of the building, made of
wood with clay tiles,
It was determined that 60% of it is in dangerous condition, and in need of
repair.
Alter a call to all the members of the parish with interest in looking for
a solution, in January of 2004 a committee Pro-Parish was formed to look for the best way
to respond to this urgent need; searching for the most adequate form within our economic
means to respond to this challenge. The committee decided to see this project of the roof
within a fuller vision for the physical plant of the parish and the needs that at the same
time need to be atended to Duch as the renovation of the interior of the Church, parish
offices with rooms for meetings and catequesis which are lacking at present, and a
renovation and amplification of the Parish Center.
The project for the roof is our priority, and the faithful of the parish
from the beginning of 2004 have initiated various activities to begin to collect funds
towards this end.
This pamphlet seeks to give information about the projected budget for the Project of the roof, and the other subsequent projects that we hope to take on so that the parish might have the infrastructure necessary to respond adequately to the pastoral needs of the Catholic faithful of Ocotepeque in this new millennium.
